[SPOILER ALERT: this post contains screenshots from the Rise of Isengard beta]
As per request from the biggest fan of Cosmetic Lotro (uhm, my daughter), I am adding a warning to any outfits that involve Rise of Isengard armour or cosmetics. I will add [beta outfit] to the title and a spoiler alert to the text.
Running around Dunland I try to focus on what’s new in terms of armour, outfits and cosmetics without spoiling too much of the surprise of the actual expansion for myself. I started out levelling tailoring and metalsmithing. When you begin at Tier 7, you are given very few basic recipes, much less than at the other tiers. The tier is called “Westfold” and comes after Supreme. Upon opening the tier in beta you get shoes for lvl66, gloves and shoulders for lvl68, hat and leggings for lvl72 and there is a single use chest recipe for lvl75. Of course there are a lot more recipes available, but these are not sold by the usual expert tailor at the workbench, but have to be purchased from the reputation vendor and all require a certain reputation level to execute. Mind you this is how it is in beta, things might be different when the game goes live especially regarding the basic recipes. Since the auction house is not really functioning in beta, checking for dropped recipes is limited, but there should be some.
The crafted recipes are cosmetically very interesting of course, since their appearance is very different from what we have seen so far. I made my first outfit from a combination of light and medium crafted pieces.
Chest: Seared Robe of Grandeur, sienna dye (T7 crafted, light)
Shoulders: Westfold Campaign Shoulder Pads, sienna dye (T7 crafted, light)
Hands: Westfold Skirmish Gauntlets, sienna dye (T7 crafted, medium)
Feet: Brushed Skirmish Boots, sienna dye (T7 crafted, medium)

It looks great! I hope one of my crafters can make these someday 🙂
I like the Sienna with green combination. Also, this outfit looks like it could be very handy in the winter days in the mountains. I guess we’ll be seeing loads of these in the future in-game. It will be fun to see.
Do those shoulders consist of just the “bear fur” part, or do they include the fabric underneath too?
I’ve been looking for something to complement my giant Archer’s Cover bear hat. This looks appropriate. 😀
The fabric that drops over the shoulder on the left side of the picture (her right shoulder technically), is part of the shoulder pads. So there is some fabric apart from the fur. The fabric can be dyed, but the fur remains brown.

I like the shoulders too, but with it being so obviously a fur, I’m not sure whether an Elf would wear it. 😉
You mean you don’t do the “kill 20 boars” quests on your runekeeper? 😉
Well yeah, but I don’t wear their hides as a trophy. 😛
Actually while I *do* do the ‘kill these for this quest’ stuff, I’m not in it for the random killing, so unless I’m doing a quest I tend to avoid and run off agro. 🙂

This is beautiful! 🙂 I love the way you put outfits together and I’ve been meaning to post here for some time. You have an amazing eye for the way details and colours work together.
It is rather sad… I hate shopping in real life and I’m the furthest thing away from a clothes horse you could imagine, yet it’s possible about 50% of my anticipation for ROI is tied to all of those gorgeous new cosmetics. *blush*
Also, I hope this is OK to ask here, my apologies in advance if I’m breaching etiquette.. but do you or anybody commenting here know of any nice LOTRO communities beyond the official forums? People do make valid points there sometimes.. but it is a bit disheartening to log in looking for information on RoI or the game generally.. and finding so many complaints much of the time.
Hi Sonja, thanks for posting! You might want to check out MyMiddleEarth, a community for all things Tolkien including Lotro. Many lotro roleplayers blog there. Casual Stroll to Mordor will keep you up to date with all relevant Lotro news and has a lot of people commenting and participating, with most of the time a very different response from the whining that you see on the forums. Other than that there isnt much in terms of Lotro community. I read the forums and just ignore the negativity. Some criticism is valid but there is so much well done and great in Lotro and the upcoming expansion. I especially value the time and creativity that went into the design of the new armour styles.

Thank you so much for the community site suggestions, I knew about Casual Stroll to Mordor and have used it quite frequently for information. My Middle Earth looks like just the thing I have been searching for, and I think I will create an account there in the next couple of days 🙂
Just looking at your preview screenies again, I can’t wait! I often tend to prefer simpler designs when putting together an outfit, and these will be so perfect!
