The Hat!

Early this spring my inspiration and fellow cosmetic blogster Devonna from LotroStylist posted a “style challenge” for the Woodruff’s Hat. She made a beautiful outfit that in my opinion is still the best she ever made for her hobbit. However this particular “hat” is a real challenge to use in an outfit. So after she posted her challenge I played with some ideas and outfits off and on, but really, this hat is not made for elves, men, women or dwarves. Not even for male hobbits. The only characters that can get away with this one and look good are female hobbits. As I couldn’t think of a suitable outfit for my hobbit I gave up and didn’t think about it for months. Not until this week when I was moving around some cosmetics and armour pieces over to my alts and stumbled upon this hat again. It so happened I was just working on an outfit with the Ale Association Cloak for my hobbit burglar so I tried it on with this hat. It was perfect! It was just the right finishing touch this outfit needed! Now I do not claim nor pretend to ever be able to rival the success of Devonna’s outfit, but for the first time I felt that at least I won’t have to be ashamed of it. In fact I think my burglar looks rather charming!

The hat itself is available through a low level quest in Trestlebridge, but also appears as a world drop here and there so you might find it on the auction house. I would discourage you from purchasing it as a cosmetic from the Lotro Store as it’s really not hard to find in game.

Thank you Devonna for this very fun challenge that took me ages to meet! For those of you who may have missed her over the last months, she has re-activated her blog again and posted a wonderful Dunland Runekeeper outfit to get us all inspired again!

If you want to know where a certain armour piece or cosmetic comes from, you can look it up in the Lorebook, by typing its name into the search box. You can equip any piece of armour cosmetically through the wardrobe, even armour that is not meant for your class or level.

  1. I love it! i came across that hat early last year and my kin started a ‘silly hats’ photo thread all from the inspiration of how strange and wonderful this one is and i kept it because i’d never seen anything like it.I love the cloak must let my hunter get a little more tipsy first though for the reputation 😛

Why should this awesome hat only fit a hobbit’s head ? I’m wearing that Hat of the Forests together with Banded Hauberk and Golodir’s Mantle as my Festival and Events outfit and it fits me fine 😀

    • 😀 Of course it fits you fine! But I think if I would meet you on the streets of Bree I would snicker softly around the corner. There is just no arguing about taste, and cosmetic outfits are all about exactly that! 😉
