Lament for Edhelion

Amidst the crags of mountains blue
There echoes still a silent song
Lamenting that which Elves once knew:
The refuge of Edhelion.

~ Kemendin, Nimrodel Server

This piece of text is an excerpt from a wonderful poem written by Kemendin for the Lost Texts series.
You can read the full version on Casual Stroll to Mordor.

Fond memories of the past
Again for me, it wouldnโ€™t last.
Edhelion once so colorful and bright.
Now concealed in darkness instead of light.

~Clill

This is the beginning of a short poem by Clill, who shares his wanderings through Middle Earth on his blog. You can read the full version on Clill’s Blog, which I highly recommend reading entirely because he shares some beautiful journeys.

Yesterday was my lucky day. I joined a raid to Barad Guldur and obtained the token for the chest piece! Now considering that it took my minstrel about 40 (or was it 50?) mud fights with the Watcher before she finally obtained her Moria shoulders, I never thought that my lore-master was going to get her chest after only a couple of rolls! Through the wonders of the wardrobe my rune-keeper immediately took possession of this new piece of treasure, but since she is an elf I’m not really upset about that. This robe just belongs with the elves in my view. I may do an outfit with it for my male elf as well. Getting new outfit pieces is always the highlight of my playtime, especially when it is such a beautiful piece as this one. I am certain that Turbine will put the Mirkwood raid pieces as cosmetics into the game some time (edit to add: this Robe has now been added to the Skirmish Classic vendor), but until then the only way to obtain this piece now is to do the BG raid and have a lore-master that can barter the token in Ost Galadh. I still don’t have the lore-master shoulders that are a wonderful part of this set, and knowing my luck with shoulder pieces I may not obtain them for another year, but I’ll keep trying!
The Lore-master changes announced in the Dev Diary seem pretty good overall. Though technically there may be a few new skills, I think in truth these are mostly old skills finally made useful, which is not a bad thing. The only bad news for Lore-masters is that sadly there will be no new pet!

  1. Absolutely gorgeous! I love the old-school shoulders you chose, matching the gold on the robe, gloves and circlet. The outfit even matches the scenery. Awesome outfit and screenshots Hymne! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Thank you Starry! I still love to use old-school stuff now and again. There are lovely timeless pieces there that come back into my outfits every so often. I’m happy with the screenshots too, they really captured the sad mood. Taking those screenshots really makes you look closely at all the details there, and it’s so beautifully done.

    • Thank you Laenlis. I’ve been wanting to do an outfit in that setting for a while already but never found something Elvish enough to do it. I’m still surprised how well it turned out.:)

She is beautiful. Perfect setting for the poems and the feel of this post is just amazing, lots of meaning.

I love that robe, have wanted it forever. I’m so excited for you! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Gosh I’ve wanted it forever too, and my lore-master isn’t nearly that old ha ha. She was levelled long after people were regularly running the BG raid, so I’m really happy I was able to catch up!

  3. Ooohh that robe is gorgeous! Congratulations! I have long wanted pieces from BG, especially the minstrel set, but alas and alack, I suspect I won’t get my mitts on any til they’re released in the skirm vendors (which I really hope they do).

Beautiful outfit. The robe/dress is lovely. Since I think it looks more like a dress, I’m interested to see how you work it into a male outfit. I find often that my male elves look like they’re trying to go out in drag!

“The only bad news for Lore-masters is that sadly Riders of Rohan is the second expansion in a row without a new pet!”

I’m not sure this is correct. There was the Limerfain (or as I call it the Happy Fun Ball) pet introduced (if I remember rightly) with Isengard. I personally don’t find it the MOST useful pet in the world, but it is there. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • You are correct, we got the Commune with Nature skill at 70, though it’s more of a healing utility than an actual pet (even though they look like it). I will amend my text accordingly!

Yeah they are, and they’re not even actually that good (in my opinion anyway). But they do look mighty cute when you use the talismans and turn them into transparent critters ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. I love the coloration of the outfit, especially against such a sombre background! The LM robe is one of the many cosmetics that I have left to get from BG and DN. Who knows, we could see those pieces in the skirm camps next to the Helegrod and Rift pieces ๐Ÿ˜€

Wooow this is soo beautiful! I just love that robe and the shoulders goes perfect with it, so perfect it took me some time to realise there even was any shoulders, I thought they were part of the robes! ^_^

And I love that you picked Edhelion for the screenshots. Its one of my favorite places, I remember spending a afternoon there just wandering around, taking in the melancholy but very beautiful atmosphere. ^_^ (and I took a few screenshots as well :D)

  7. This is yet again a wonderful outfit! The combination of Burgundy with Ranger green is great! I’m thinking about color combinations for my characters and this is a combination I like very much for the more ” nature” related classes indeed, like the Loremaster. Perhaps it’s something for my Hunter as well? I’ll have to think about it ๐Ÿ™‚ It sure is interesting!
