Cosmetic Lotro

Braving the cold

While most of my fellow players and kinmates are grinding their hearts out for Superior Fourth marks, I just cannot find the inspiration to do the same. The idea of having to run 12-man skirmishes every day, and condemn myself to running School and Library every week, is just not attracting me. Of course some day I would like to run the Dragon Raid with my kinmates, but it is just not for me right now. However what does get me excited is more cosmetics! Eventhough my alt characters, vault space and house chests are packed to the limits with cosmetics, I always want to have more of them. This time I set out to get the magnificent Feathered Cloak of the North-men for my loremaster who is questing in Forochel. It requires Naillan Campaign marks to purchase. I tried to get the marks running Ford of Bruinen with her, but they don’t drop there every time and I really really hate Elrohir always aggroing the devouts at the most inconvenient moments. So instead I took my minstrel and ran Thangúlhad and Dannenglor until I had 5 Naillan Campaign marks and got my cloak!

While staying here in Forochel I took advantage of the opportunity to check out the Lossoth way of life, which is wonderfully documented in Kiarane’s latest series “Living in Middle Earth”. I highly recommend you check out all her posts in this series as they highlight amazing and very interesting details that we don’t usually stop to look at when we are handing in our quests.

If you want to know where a certain armour piece or cosmetic comes from, you can look it up in the Lorebook, by typing its name into the search box. You can equip any piece of armour cosmetically through the wardrobe, even armour that is not meant for your class or level.

Chest : Padded Jacket, white dye (light armour smith, Bree)

Shoulders: Westfold Campaign Shoulder Pads, sienna dye (crafted, light)

Hands: Ceremonial Leijona Gloves*, orange dye (crafted, cosmetic or as medium armour)

Legs: Quilted Leggings, white dye (light armour smith, Bree)

Feet: Ceremonial Leijona Boots*, orange dye (crafted, cosmetic or as medium armour)

Back: Feathered Cloak of the North-men, gold dye (skirmish cosmetic)

*Although the tooltip of the Ceremonial Leijona and Ajokoira armour says that you need reputation with the Lossoth to wear the item, you can avoid that requirement by dragging it into your wardrobe and use it from there.

  1. This is a wonderful outfit! It’s… full with color despite the fact that the leggings and chest piece are dyed white. I think it’s perfect for those harsh snowy surroundings!

Im thinking of getting this cloack looks a beauty. You are probably the best person to ask but isnt there a cloak that is off on one shoulder? Maybe I imagined it

    • Hello Spuddo, I don’t know of any cloaks that are off on one shoulder, but perhaps you are referring to shoulder pads? For example the pre-order roi cosmetic shoulders are a-symetric, one of the heavy shoulders from the Rohirrim has only one side and the Westfold crafted furry shoulders have a casual wrap around look. I don’t know if that is what you mean, but I cannot think of any cloaks that would cause this effect.

    • For some reason the winter fur-cloaks are somewhat bugged in appearance on female characters now. The hood stands up too high! I have reported this as a bug and hope they will fix it.

I have this cloak on a low level alt and am sure I got it from the store or Lalia’s Market as I don’t have any alts high enough to run the instances required to get it by questing. I just looked for it again and it’s not in either , perhaps it was only for a short while. At any rate I am wanting it for alts on a different server so I”m going to keep my eye on the store and the market until I get higher level and can run the instances to get it.

I found where I got the cloak. It is for barter at the cosmetics vendor at the skirmish camp for 149 marks and 10 medallions.
