Cosmetic Lotro

Back to the beginning

Hello everyone, thank you for being here! It has been nearly 4 years since my last blog post and I feel as if I am slowly waking up from a long slumber. I have not stopped playing Lotro, I didn’t even stop creating outfits or taking screenshots, however I have not had the energy and inspiration to post anything to my blog, or keep up with what is hot in the outfit community. Early this year when we had to do the server move, I kind of lost it a bit, as about 1500 housing decoration items were in limbo between servers for quite some time. I have 8 premium houses and a Bree-land home that I have always considered “my own places in Middle-earth”. And it all disappeared overnight, leaving me feeling displaced and homeless (not for real of course, but you know how we get attached to virtual places). Finally after about a month of anxiety and some unanswered tickets, I found all my items as one big dump in my shared housing storage. It took weeks before I could find the courage and inspiration to redecorate all my homes. The amount of items in my storage was just too overwhelming. Thankfully I had taken screenshots of every house, which helped, but it still was an awful lot of work that took an awful lot of time. I pray we never need to do this again.

With the Kingdoms of Harad expansion on our doorstep, I feel my appetite for the game, and inspiration to do outfits, return. The other day I reorganized all my “cosmetics-carrying alts”. I have about 5 alts with maximum storage space that carry all my cosmetics and non-bound armour pieces. Oh if only the Lotro team would make “Cosmetics Carry-all” a thing! If they can do it for housing items, they can do it for cosmetics? On top of that I have lots of old quest-armour pieces that are bound to a specific character, that I can only keep in the Vault storage of that character, so I would be rooting for an “Armour Carry-all” as well. But I did find out that most older Raid pieces are no longer bound to character but now bound to account! (Yeah, I didn’t read all those release notes). Oh Joy! I moved a lot of old pieces from my main character to my alts and that truly provided some much needed breathing space. I feel like I can handle a new expansion now.

Going through all my cosmetics was fun and sometimes quite nostalgic. I can’t believe I have been playing for this long and some cosmetics are really old. I swear they even smell stuffy! Now I am not here to promise you that I will return to post on any kind of regular schedule, but I did feel inspired to refresh my blog today and share a little Autumn outfit with you. Hundreds of people have been visiting my blog over the past years despite me not actively posting anything new, so I know that somehow my outfits are still an inspiration to players. I am amazed by your continued interest and thankful for your support!

Winter is coming, but the Autumn trees are still dressed in beautiful fiery colors. A lovely opportunity to dress up and look the part. This outfit is based on one of Lotro’s earliest cosmetics, The Long Ranger’s Robe from the Outfitter in Bree. It’s truly old, but also timeless and still warm and cozy. It only costs 20 silvers and is accessible to every player.
I decided to go back to my humble beginnings as an “Outfitter”, and present something simple after such a long absence. I have always liked “realistic” looking outfits, and this robe holds that quality. It cannot be dyed, other than two small seams on the front side, so it’s basically always a brown, soft leather color with beautiful accents. Great for meandering outdoors with a bit of rain. Safe travels!

Head: Ontamo’s Extra Cap, belegaer blue dye (Quest reward Black Book of Mordor, ch.11)
Shoulders: Cozy Holbytla Mantle, cannot be dyed (Quartermaster Protectors of Wilderland)
Chest: Long Ranger’s Robe, belegaer blue dye (Outfitter in Bree)
Legs: –
Hands: Fingerless gloves, grey dye (Yule Festival)
Feet: Stitched shoes, orange dye (Quests and crafting in Umbar)
Back:  Snow-strider’s Mantle, sunset orange dye (Yule Festival)

    • Awww dear Gloredh, I continue to follow all your outfits. They still bring me joy and they are always an inspiration, but I just haven’t had the energy to engage and interact much. I am taking it easy, and not putting any pressure on myself. I think keeping it simple is a good formula!

You have a flare for fashion. I really like the outfit. I certainly understand being overwhelmed with the transfer. I, too, lost my stuff in the transfer for about a week, but eventually all was found. I still haven’t decorated all of my houses, but I will.
