Star in the East

It’s been a while since I posted an outfit, but Yule is getting closer and closer so I really felt like dressing up accordingly to get in the mood. For this outfit it’s my dwarf getting ready to follow his star like a wise man. The Yule Festival is scheduled to start next Monday. To be honest, it’s the first time in five years that I’m not looking forward to participating in a festival. Other years I used to be extremely excited anticipating the Yule Festival, but not this time. Since we got a sneak peek on Bullroarer to see what the festival will be like this year, I felt very discouraged with the huge grind and the gated rewards. I know there have been some changes made since then, requirements have been slightly lowered, costs slightly lowered, but… unless additional adjustments have been made, I fear it will not be the festive experience that it used to be in previous years. I’ll have to wait and see on Monday how it turns out before I reach my final verdict, but I’m not optimistic.

Nevertheless I’m still hoping to do a few fun winter outfits this time of year. After almost two years of running this blog there comes a point when you have kind of seen it all and have to take a step back. This probably means that I won’t be posting outfits as regularly as I used to anymore, just occasionally when the inspiration strikes me. In the meantime I want to remind you to vote for Harperella every day until December 21st. In fact, you are not even allowed to read my blog without having voted for her at least once! She’s an awesome creative soul who freely shares all her musical and leadership talents with the Lotro community, and she deserves our unconditional support.

Tomorrow it’s my turn to go see The Hobbit! Getting my whole family together on the same night was no easy task, but tomorrow will be the day. I’m really looking forward to it!

  1. Such a wonderful outfit, Hymne! I love the combination of colors, especially on your dwarf! They suit him well, along with the regal-looking pieces you’ve selected for him. Also, it’s great to see that cloak put to use…I haven’t had much luck with it myself in my outfitting adventures : )

I’m also sharing your apprehension regarding the Yule Festival. I don’t like how grindy it’s become. Even though the tiered deeds have been reduced significantly, I don’t want to be forced to log every single day to get what I’d like on a few toons. We’ll see what happens when Monday rolls around, and hopefully it’s still a festival that can be enjoyed!

    • Thank you Nathrien, I like Yule themed outfits even though I only use them for a short period of time. Maybe I’ll be able to grind enough tokens to get at least all the cosmetics, but even those are gated now 😦

  2. The combination of green and white makes this dwarf lord look kinda exotic, i like it 🙂 and the cloak adds a bit of fancy which is always good, a fine outfit for a thoughtful dwarf conemplating the stars!

    • Thank you Leeann, but not every dwarf is the same. My rune-keeper dwarf is slightly slimmer in the waist and broad shouldered than his guardian brother, who is much harder to outfit for. 🙂

  3. Certhedhel

Could you please tell me exactly which mobs have a chance of dropping that hat? I seem to be having a hard time finding it and it’s the only piece I don’t have for this absolutely fantastic dwarf outfit. Or possibly does another hat share the same skin as the Hat of Anorien?

My dwarf guardian will definitely be wearing this outfit (as soon as I can find the hat).

  4. Certhedhel

I finally found another hat with the same skin as the Hat of Anorien (since I had no luck finding that piece) so I finally have the full outfit at last! The alternate hat is a quest reward from Esteldin, the quest where you have to defeat the Hillman Plague-bearer and the hat is called the Cap of the Ram Duath. Thanks so much for creating this wonderful outfit, my dwarf guardian looks so awesome now!
