Now that the Steed of the Hunter is out of the stables again I decided to get it for my hunter. I actually have two hunter characters, one man and one elf, but the elf is the one that I want to continue levelling, so he’s the one that got the horse. I really like the idea of class mounts and plan to get one for each class that I play regularly. So far the Steed of the Hunter is the nicest one in my view. It has lots of great details and looks very realistic.
I chose a simple outfit to complement this beautiful horse and used some of the purple medium Moria gear, because I think it matches well with the horse tack. I also used a quiver rather than a cloak, as cloaks cut through the luggage on the back of the horse.
If you want to know where a certain armour piece or cosmetic comes from, you can look it up in the Lorebook, by typing its name into the search box. You can equip any piece of armour cosmetically through the wardrobe, even armour that is not meant for your class or level.

i also love the steed of the hunter and bought it for my main Freyjuska. i even found out that her outfit she’s been wearing for almost 5 years now matches the pony (http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/246/freypony.jpg)! 😀 really beautiful mount.
Lol, you found a horse to match the outfit in stead of the other way around 🙂 The ponly looks lovely too, and Frey looks dashing.
Just yesterday I was looking for matching outfits for this horse! I am trying to decide if I”ll buy it or not. Thank you for having lots of good pictures of it, plus a matching outfit 🙂
You’re welcome!
Great mount (which I don’t have 😦 ) Not sure if I’m willing to buy it, but you certainly make a good case for doing so! Fantastic screenshots!!
Thank you! I didn’t mean to seduce you into anything 😉
I’m a TP miser!
Your character has a nice butt. XD I’m sorry, that was my immediate thought seeing the fourth picture.
I agree, and it’s the very reason why I play male characters. Though my champ’s butt tops them all. 😉
I guess the same reason why male players play female elves… 😛
I’ve been wavering on whether or not to get this horse, and now I think I just have to!
Fantastic outfit!! Congratulations! My main is a hunter and I just fell in love with this combination 😀 Which leggins did you use for it?
And also, I’ve seen several times you use the “Moria barter” items for your outfits but when I played Moria I don’t recall having found coins for these barters (which I also don’t remember seeing!). Is it too much if I ask for a brief outlining on how to get these? I would love to have access to their outfits 🙂
Keep the good job!
Hi Cnrincon, there are no leggings in this outfit because the chestpiece has them included. Wear the chest and you automatically have leggings as well.
The tokens needed to barter in Moria drop from the Moria instances only. The most commonly run is the Grand Stairs (GS), starting at level 56 I believe, but other instances are run as well as they are often needed for deeds (Forges, 16th Hall etc). If you haven’t done many instances yet, Grand Stairs is a great way to start. Look during the evening hours for groups asking in the global channel.
There’s a guide on bartering here: https://cosmeticlotro.wordpress.com/cross-class-bartering/
Excellent! Thank you, I’ll look for it 🙂
I have yet to try ANY costumes, because most require Dunland quest rewards
Dunland quest rewards have become very popular cosmetic items since the release of Rise of Isengard. If you check the auction house for items of level 75 you may find some of those pieces as they appear as drops from instances. If you have purchased shared wardrobe space, you can use those pieces cosmetically on your characters.
Isnt there an ranger looking outfit that i can allready wear at like lvl 10 or somethin? It isnt my main but i dont have that high lvl chars, so do u know an combination of bought parts of outfits that could kinda lookalike this.

Yes there is something you can do at early levels, but there’s not a lot of choice. At level 14 you can wear a crafted robe called Quilted Robe (or Linen Robe). At level 17 you can go to Thorin’s Hall and visit the Light Armour Vendors there, they also sell nice Dwarf Cloth Robes that are proper for rangers if dyed olive or grey. The quivers are easy to obtain. You can visit the Outfitter in Trestlebridge or Othrikar (both in the North Downs) and buy one for a few silvers. You also find some on the Auction House sometimes from festivals. The hood is the harder part at that level. Best you can do is buy a Plain Hooded Cloak at the Outfitter in Bree (center of town). Dye the cloak olive or umber.
Hope this helps and good luck!
