I’m kicking off Fashion Week with a black outfit for my main character Hymne.
Black is one of the more valuable dye colours in Lotro. The ingredient for black dye, ancient iron oxide, is a bit rare and comes from mining ores. There is no regular scholar recipe for black dye, as it only appears as the critted version of rust dye. The scholar’s guild improved recipe produces guaranteed 5 black dyes.
Obviously, this outfit isn’t completely black, as the larger part of this dress is undyeable and remains white. The new Orthanc raid armour pieces are all undyeable and have deep black default colours, with a touch of white and sometimes crimson. To make the best use of those pieces in outfits, combine your shoulders, gloves or helmet with anything else dyed black!
If you want to know where a certain armour piece or cosmetic comes from, you can look it up in the Lorebook, by typing its name into the search box. You can equip any piece of armour cosmetically through the wardrobe, even armour that is not meant for your class or level.
Shoulders: Shoulder Pads of Thelin, default dye (Tower of Orthanc armour, minstrel)
Chest : Exquisite Elven Dress, black dye (Mirkwood kindred reputation or Lotro store, cosmetic)
Back: Hooded Elf-lord’s Cloak, black dye (Lotro store exclusive cosmetic)

wow, the shoulders seem like connected continuation to the cloak, together they work perfect!
The stark black-and-whiteness is so graphic and visually interesting! I love the way the sleeves and the cloak reflect each other in the negative. It looks fantastic. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of your LOTRO Fashion Week designs! 🙂

Hello Joana, dresses (like tunic&pants) are cosmetic items that cover chest, legs, hands and feet all in one. This means that the shoes are “attached” to the dress. You cannot use your own shoes (if you do they will remain invisible and covered by the dresses’ shoes), nor can you wear gloves. The only slots you can add things to when wearing a dress are: 1) head, 2) shoulders, 3) back.

I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET THE DRESS!!! Instead of purchasing it from the LotRO Store which you can’t do anymore as of me writing this comment, you go to the clothing vendor in Laila’s Market and buy it with 20 Mithril.
